Alexis Jordan is a American singer-songwriter and actress from Columbia, South Carolina. She was a contestant on the first season of America's Got Talent and is signed to Sony Music through Jay-Z & Norwegian production team Stargate's record label StarRoc.

Jordan was born Columbia, South Carolina to a mother of African American/Native American/European descent and a Puerto Rican father and has three younger siblings. Alexis Jordan’s parents moved her to Southern California at age 11 to pursue a career in the arts. This is the time she began writing songs to accompany her singing ability.

The youngster landed on Simon Cowell’s ‘07 talent show “America’s Got Talent” around the same time her mother started pushing Jordan to make YouTube videos (”I was like, ‘Mom, this is so not cool!’”) and moved her daughter to Hot-lanta to mingle with the city’s big-name producers. “Happiness” teases the teen’s upcoming self-titled debut disc on Jay-Z’s StarRoc/Roc Nation. “I’m bringing something fresh, new, and positive to the world,” says Alexis. “Something that is going to leave a mark on history and music.”
