"Waiting for Tonight" is a song originally recorded by American female pop trio 3rd Party for their 1997 album Alive. American recording artist Jennifer Lopez recorded a version for her debut album, On the 6 (1999), and the song became the third single from the album and also the most famous version of the song so far, being considered one of Lopez's big signature song. Released in 1999, the single peaked at number eight in the U.S., becoming Lopez's second top ten single and became a millennium hit; it also peaked at number five in the United Kingdom.
The video, directed by Francis Lawrence, begins with Lopez and her friends getting ready for the New Year's Eve's party. They're later seen in a boat on the river and then arrive in a party which is held in the middle of a jungle. Between these scenes, there are the scenes of Lopez in a jungle, dancing in front of a green light in a jungle and with the sparkling crystals on her body. Near the end of the video, the clock tower shows that the 2000 year has begun. The lights turn off, but re-turn on. The fireworks set off and everybody celebrates the beginning of the New Year, with Lopez dancing on the heads of the people. The video ends with Lopez in a black bikini in a water in front of a waterfall.
