Lil’ Kim is adding a visual component to her diss record against Nicki Minaj. The Queen Bee went back to her old hood in Brooklyn on Tuesday (Dec. 4), to shoot the video for the track, ‘Black Friday/Clap Clap’ furthering her vendetta against the Young Money frontwoman. “Getting ready for my video shoot tonight. Let’s get it!” Kim tweeted her nearly 100,000 followers.
Although she hasn’t yet revealed the video’s entire concept, behind-the-scenes footage of the shoot showed Kim rocking a blonde wig, and fur coat, surrounded by a bevy of fans, as she spit her flow against Minaj. “We’re trying to keep it under raps,” said the video’s director Picture Perfect. “Kim had a record she wanted us to do for ‘Clap Clap,’ she got this whole crew I.R.S. [International Rock Star] so we was working on that.” The pint-sized emcee is set to release the new track on the I.R.S. mixtape which drops next month, before releasing her own tape and full-length album.
Kim has been on a full-fledged promotional tirade against Minaj for months, which has in turn produced buzz around her own projects. Aside from releasing the diss record, during a New Year’s Eve party, Kim blasted Minaj and singer Keyshia Cole for the song ‘I Ain’t Thru.’ According to Kim, the track — which acted as the lead single of Cole’s fourth album ‘Calling All Hearts’ — was a rip off of Mary J. Blige‘s ‘I Can Love You,’ which Kim is featured on. Ironically, Kim and Cole worked together in the past, which prompted the 35-year-old to recant her original rant. “Let me address some things since the media is blowing s— outta proportion,” she tweeted. “I’ve always had love 4 @keyshiacole but I would have never let anyone catch [wreck] on her on my track cause keyshia was my friend in my eyes. All i was saying on NYE was me @maryjblige do what we do are who we are. when me n mary collab its always a movie. That’s my sister.”
Regardless of her motives, Kim’s undying animosity towards Minaj continues to fall on deaf ears in the Young Money camp. Aside from a couple of comments regarding the matter, and a rip against Kim on the track ‘Roman’s Revenge,’ Minaj continues to focus on her own career, recently hitting the 1 million mark in sales of her debut ‘Pink Friday.’
